![]() ![]() Mario Kart 7 carries on traditional Mario Kart gameplay in which players race against each other in go-karts across a variety of themed tracks. Racing in first-person is one of the new elements in this game along with gliding. By December 2019, it had sold over 18 million copies worldwide, making it the 3DS' best-selling game. A Nintendo eShop version was released in 2012. Mario Kart 7 was the second 3DS game to sell over five million units, following Super Mario 3D Land. It was released to positive reviews with praise for the new additions, tracks and gameplay, although the lack of a single player VS mode received criticism. The game supports both local and online multiplayer for up to eight players. New additions to the game include the ability to glide, the ability to drive underwater, the ability to drive with first person vision, and the ability to fully customize the vehicles' builds. While racing, the players make use of power-up items that either assist their character or hinder opposing characters. As with previous games in the Mario Kart series, players participate in racing on various tracks, playing as one of seventeen different Mario related characters.

![]() ![]() Tom Clancy's "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2" is definitely a step up in the series. Overall, once you get the hang of it, the game is fairly easy to beat so more experienced "Ghost Recon" players should increase the difficulty setting. There is a ton of detail on soldier's uniforms and in the surrounding environment. In sequences you can see rocks falling of a cliff in a very realistic fashion. The cutting-edge physics and particle systems show some very realistic explosions, smoke, and environment destruction during gameplay. "GRAW 2" is graphically superior to the original "Ghost Recon" games for the PS2. The developers cut no corners when it came to utilizing the PlayStation 3's full graphics potential. "GRAW 2" is very impressive graphically, and earns high marks in my book. It also frees you up to accomplish other objectives during a mission. So you're put in almost a command and control role in some sequences. It's very beneficial because on certain instances such as a training mission, the objective is to get your teammates to neutralize the enemies not you. By holding on the R2 button, you can see the view from you teammate's helmet cam. It's a small screen in the top left display and gives the users a whole host of command and control options such as controlling the UAVs and your squad. The Cross-Com feature is pretty interesting to have on the battlefield. You also get the aid of some Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to give gamers an overhead view of the battlefield. When navigating through cities you are aided by a HUD marker, which highlights current objectives and lets you know where to go. Similarly, you can peer over and pop a few shots at oncoming enemies. Like "Rainbow Six Vegas," you can seek cover and hide behind a number of objects such as walls, cars, and other solid structures. "GRAW 2" also borrows some concealment aspects from another Tom Clancy game, "Rainbow Six Vegas." The controls are a little tricky at first, only because you have a whole host of options at your finger tips. ![]() The entire battlefield is digitized with the use of the Integrated Warfighter System. Everything from systems similar to Land Warrior and UAVs are all featured. It might as well be a running advertisement for the Army's new multi-billion dollar Future Combat Systems project. "GRAW 2" features a lot of new cutting-edge military technology. For the most part, you have three other soldiers of different specialties helping you on missions, but some missions you are sent in alone. Here you play as U.S Army Captain Scott Mitchell leading "The Ghosts," an elite group of soldiers who are part of the U.S. ![]() ![]() ![]() While he acknowledges that won't be easy, his efforts don't seem to take Jessica's wellbeing into account-rather, he sees her disclosure as being the only way Bryce "gets what's coming to him." Even worse, Clay tracks Justin down-the ex-boyfriend complicit in covering up her rape, and whom she asked to leave-and brings him back to Liberty High without her consent, hoping maybe he will tell Jessica's story to the lawyers. Throughout season 2, Clay pressures Jessica (Alisha Boe) to come forward with the story of her rape, a traumatic event that left her with severe PTSD. You don't know what that feels like, to be a girl in that room."īut Clay's "nice guy" tendencies extend far beyond believing that none of Hannah's tragedies would have occurred had she made the "right" choice and chosen him from the beginning. "Girls don't get themselves into bad situations. "Clay, you don't know what was happening in this photo and you don't know what happened after," she says. Why are these girls getting themselves into these situations in the first place?" This time it's Sheri (Ajiona Alexus) who puts his nonsense to rest. While looking at photos of other girls who were abused by the baseball players, he says, "That's the thing I don't get. All of a sudden, she's a slut?"Īt one point, Clay also blames Hannah for going to "the clubhouse" in the first place-as if the new girl was supposed to know what that entailed. She has a crush on another guy, being me, and she kisses a third, being you. "Like, a lot, which classifies me as a player or something. "Do you know how many girls I've slept with?" Justin asks Clay. In a bizarre turn of events, it's the problematic Justin-who doesn't exactly have a track record for treating women well-who shuts down Clay's slut-shaming rant. ![]() For instance, after discovering that Hannah lost her virginity to Zach, he begins to question everything from her tapes. During the trial, he becomes furious with her after each of her romantic interests and her rapist, Bryce (Justin Prentice), take the stand. In season two, Clay still doesn't seem to have fully accepted that Hannah was her own person. Supposedly, Hannah's tapes showed him the error of his ways and set him straight. (Notably, his judgment of Tyler didn't stop Clay from masturbating to the images Tyler took of Hannah and Courtney.) But he's a teenage boy, and ultimately felt guilty for these actions. Clay also took it upon himself to punish Tyler Down (Devin Druid) for stalking and sharing photos of Hannah and Courtney (Michele Selene Ang) kissing by spreading a naked photo of Tyler around and throwing a brick through his window. When an upskirt picture from Justin's date with Hannah is passed around the school, along with misleading rumors, Clay lashes out at her, saying, "Sometimes it's better to wait"-as if she'd brought the invasion of privacy on herself. But even before her death, Clay acted in ways that put a lot of pressure on the young woman he cared about and others around him. While this doesn't excuse his behavior, he's clearly under a lot of emotional stress. It's true that the young teen goes through some serious difficulties, like the death of his friend Jeff Atkins and the suicide of his coworker/crush Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford). Clay has been displaying symptoms of Nice Guy Syndrome since episode one. This is not a new development in the controversial Netflix hit. For being "nice." It's the red flag that waves every time a guy declares he's been unfairly "friendzoned" or asks, "Why do all girls love assholes?" It's a dangerous, self-absorbed mentality that can make the difference between "harmless" boys and angry young men‚ and Clay has it in spades. But the truth is that Clay can't rescue anyone, because all he truly cares about is himself.Ĭlay has classic Nice Guy Syndrome, which makes men feel entitled to another's affections simply for displaying basic human decency. The show asks its viewers to believe he could have saved Hannah from suicide had she truly given him a chance, or had he tried just a little harder to get to know her-just as he tries to save his new girlfriend Skye in season 2. But one aspect of the series that hasn't been as closely scrutinized is as insidious and unassuming as the character himself: Clay Jensen, a quiet student thrown head first into the mystery of a classmate's suicide.ġ3 Reasons Why desperately wants us to like Clay (portrayed by boy-next-door type Dylan Minnette), to root for the bruised boy who just keeps trying to do the right thing. Well, some would say it has a lot of problems: the Netflix show has been continuously criticized and dissected for the way it deals with teen suicide and sexual assault. ![]() ![]() ![]() I was more interested in sports than technology and my original goal was to become a basketball coach so I went to college to study Physical Education. ![]() I should explain that I had little interest in computers in high school and college. I'd say my first challenge was entering the Information Technology field in the first place. The question is: “What are the largest challenges that you have faced in your career and how did you overcome those?” Ideally to solve a problem like this you would have a dates table as Jonathan recommends in the thread.įor more information on a numbers table check out these articles:Ĭhris Shaw posted a new SQL Quiz and I have been tagged by Kendal Van Dyke, so I need to take up the challenge. This case statement is important if you expect the code to work on any database in any SQL Server install. ![]() This can also be affected by using SET DATEFIRST if you want it to be different from the default for the language. Language settings affect date information. According to Books on line DATEFIRST indicates the specified first day of each week. The WHERE clause then just compares the value returned from the DATEPART function (weekday) to the value for Wednesday based on the value. Then I just run a simple select against the temporary numbers table adding each number to the first day of the year. If you don't have a numbers table already, you should as there are many good uses for it. The first section just creates a temporary numbers table and you can do that several ways, I just opted for a simple one. So here's the code:ĭATEPART ( weekday, DATEADD ( DAY, n, '' )) = The other day I answered this question at SQLServerCentral, "Need a date function to return every Wednesday of the year", and got a couple of kudos, one from Jonathan Kehayias and one from Chris Morris (frequent contributor to the SSC forums), so I thought I'd post the code here and then explain it a bit. ![]() ![]() ![]() Instead of the almost aimless (and sometimes frustrating) exploration of Super Mario Galaxy, Galaxy 2 is mostly linear, having you move from one world to the next, collecting enough stars and star bits to meet requirements to clear checkpoints and open gates. Between this faceship and some map tweaks, getting around is much easier in Galaxy 2. ![]() The creator of the ship, a luma named Lubba, jokingly calls it a “faceship.” The Stars are back you’ll collect them to give your faceship the ability to navigate space. Once again, Luma and the lumas are helping out in your quest to retrieve Peach, but this time you’ll cruise space and galaxies in your new ship, which happens to look like Mario’s face. Because of this, they don’t waste any energy on telling you that the Princess is missing. The story? You know the story by now, and the developers know that you know. For me, I think it’s an even better game than my previous series favorite, Super Mario World. This focus on new power-ups, level design, and imaginative control, combined with some fun throwbacks for Mario series fans, makes for one hell of a ride and an even better game than Super Mario Galaxy. And now with the release of Super Mario Galaxy 2, with the struggle to perfect 3D platforming controls finally behind them, it feels like they were able to focus on being creative. The combination of Super Mario Galaxy‘s polished controls and innovative power-ups managed to bring back some of the excitement I hadn’t felt for the franchise since the Super Mario World games from the 1990s. It wasn’t until the release of Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii that I felt like Nintendo had come close to successfully fitting Mario into a 3D platforming formula. Mario’s outing on the GameCube didn’t do much to win me over, either. But, because of the camera and other control issues that had yet to be polished, I wasn’t very excited for the future of 3D platforming from Nintendo. For me, when Nintendo released Super Mario 64, it showed me that 3D platforming was the future. ![]() ![]() ![]() It's a game that stays with you long after you've finished it.
